OT: The Dumbest (musical) Decisions in the History of Mankind

As hindsight is 20/20, we caa all say musicians, especially those with LVS, as Keith would say, make poor decisions. I won’t say regret, because they never will admit they made a poor choice.

Here is mine - 1968.

JIMMY PAGE: Hey Terry, would you like to join a band that John Paul Jones and myself are starting?

TERRY REID: No, I've got other things going on, but there’s this bloke up near Birmingham you ought to check out.

Let's throw out those old and ugly typical male Stonesfans in the front and replace them with young girls so that Mr Peter Pan here doesn't feel so old. Throw in Christina Aguilera too so thet the girls have some artist they can relate to. Let's have Mr Peter Pan here "make it out" with Christina on stage so that the young girls get the impression he's still a young stud.

FYI No one "let Bill Wyman go" he quit of his own accord.

This thread is a drag but I'll play...

I'll go w/Bryan Ferry firing Eno from Roxy Music.

I don't expect any consensus on this, but inviting Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham to join Fleetwood Mac just ruined them for me.

Just curious: did it ruin Fleetwood Mac or Buckingham/Nicks?

Let's go on stage, half-drunk and totally un-rehearsed with no band backing us up and make fools of our-selves in front of billions of people watching on TV. (Live Aid, 1985, Bob, Ron and Keith).

Let's keep Ronnie Wood no matter how unstable he is and how embarrassing his antics are....

Let's make Mick Taylor so miserable that he quits the band...

Let's let Keith publish whatever destructive thought comes into his head, irrespective of the impact on the Stones or his r'ship with Mick..

Let's have Keith's out-of-control girlfriend Anita come on tour bringing a mountain of illegal drugs..

Let's have Ronnie and Keith come on stage completely drunk..

...I fail to see the dumbness... Please elaborate...

Definitely this. The rest mentioned here is chickenshit.

I am not sure about that one because then Decca realising what they had missed, signed The Rolling Stones which started the band's recording career.
