The scarf is from India and the writing on it is some kind of Sanskrit mantra or prayer. On one of them I can see the Sanskrit word "Rama"...one of the names for God in the Hindu religion. You can find similar scarves all over India and in shops here in the US that have Indian and hippie-type clothing.
