Willie Nelson arrested on drug charge in Texas
Country singer charged with marijuana possession
November 27, 2010

Willie Nelson was charged with marijuana possession in Texas yesterday (November 26) after police found drugs on his tourbus.

Six ounces of the drug were found on the bus at 9am (MST) in Sierra Blanca, a US Border Patrol spokesperson told the El Paso Times newspaper. An officer had searched the vehicle after smelling the substance with three people, including Nelson, arrested.

Nelson was held briefly, paid a $2,500 (£1,600) bond and was released.

He’s due to play the Winstar Casino in Thakerville tonight.

I can't believe they're still arresting people for pot. And isn't Holland, of all places, considering the end of tourists being able to buy pot and hash legally? We're going backwards again. California seems to have entered into a sane zone with marijuana legal if you go through the rigamaroll of getting a 'doctor' to okay your usage for medical reasons. But there's always that feeling that it could end overnight, that they could come in a show of overwhelming force and shut all the medical marijuana facilities.

Just what Holland needs, pot and hash sales to be illegal and back out of the streets again where the cops will have to deal with it. The locals can simply buy it and turn around and make a little profit selling it to tourists, and the state doesn't benefit at all from sales.

I heard about Holland considering this.

Actually, many states and/or countries have laws prohibiting their citizens to disobey their laws even when visiting other states/countries so, technically speaking, it's already against the law for many people to imbibe when visiting Holland.
I guessing those laws are rarely, if ever, enforced.

Willie arrested for pot again, what a f*ckin' joke. Leave the dude alone already !!! SECOND of all, legalize pot since anyone can get it (underground?) anywhere in 5 minutes anyway - probably even kids in Kindergarten. At least we'll get the tax money off the sales of the weed to start fixing up this VERY giant mess of a country (building, roads, bridges, etc, falling apart). Has anybody ever considered that pot is being keep illegal partly because the Pharma industry doesn't want the competition and lose all that cash when people choose to self medicate with pot instead of paying for greatly over priced prescription meds/drugs - just food for thought. BTW, I don't smoke weed, doesn't work for me.....

As long as he does not hurt anybody let the guy smoke his weed in peace.......

I know it happened on Friday in Texas, but a relevent story still. I wonder why someone else on the bus didn't take responsibility and take Willie off the hook.

That's an extremely lonely stretch of Texas highway.
This is as big as it gets for them, or even ever will get.

Give 'em their fun and then they'll let him off like Louisiana did

It was 6 ounces!!

That's what they did to him when they busted him on tax evasion back in the 80's. (I think it was the 80s anyway). Willie's got some great friends though. If I remember the story correctly, when the Feds auctioned off Willie's possesions, many of his friends bought the most important & valuable stuff and returned it to him.

Let's hope his friends can come to his aid again this time.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Still smoking reefer at 77? He's my hero! California had the chance to set an example and blew it. The two states with the largest prison populations in the country and crap like this is the reason why.

Dismiss the charges, give him back is weed and water pipe and go catch some white collar gangsters! Willie's crime is only causing injury to himself. The Ken Lays of the world are causing people to loose their jobs and resort to crime so they can support their families. I ask the question, who's the real menace to society?

Early 90's actually.
I have the 1966 blackface Super Reverb that belonged to Mickey Raphael.
It was part of a $100 lot at the auction that also contained 6 or 7 Baldwins.
Those were all returned to Willie, and the road manager let my buddy keep the amp of his choice out of gratitude. He kept this one and eventually it collects dust at my house.

The California law was defeated because it was very poorly written and even teh smokers didn't like it because they didn't trust the government messing with their weed. Plus heavy pressure from the feds didn't help either.

That´s the USA that took John Lennon away from us - cause everybody is allowed to shoot around, but you get jailed for a little weed.

I don't know about Chuck, but his famed piano player Johnnie Johnson did, along with the Dead.

Willie opened the show, then came out and played with the Dead, and Bob Weir (who played with Mr. Johnson in Ratdog) announced a special guest and he walked out and they all played several songs together.

I heard a long time ago, they never travel with more than if they divide it up equally and all take the rap it's a misdemeanor. Maybe that's what they did and they're just not reporting the others. Who knows.
