Reminds me when I was trying to get a signed copy of Brian Wilon's latest release on his website (some may here may remember). The site had ~100 signed copies...all sold out instantly. They released 50 more 2 days later...I failed again. Then they released a crap load to accommodate everyone who didn't get one.

Doubt they'll do the same here on KR.com.

Wonder if Keith only wrote his name in the book, or if he included a sentence or two at the same time.....something like "Jagger's a w^nker "

My order went through and gave me an order number, but does that guarantee that I will receive a copy?

Keep in mind that all major publishing companies use autopen devices to mechanically sign their books, book plates, etc. Very few books that come directly from a publisher are hand-signed.

The phrase "Autographed Copy" does not guarantee that it's an authentic by hand signature.

For $29.99, I'll chance that it's a hand-signed copy. My thinking that if they were signed by hand they would be asking around $250.00.

I would not be surprised to see hand-signed versions on auction sites for under $400.00

Got mine just in time! hoping it is really signed by keith himself!

Considering it's a relatively small number (50) I would assume Keith signed it himself.

I suppose people can post pictures of their signed books to compare how similiar they are to prove if it was an autopen job. But I doubt that's the case.

Must have taken Keith all of three or four minutes to sign fifty copies.

I hope this is no indication of his fingers' condition to play guitar.

Those of us who receive on should post a pic.

When Gene Simmons released his second book, the publisher had placed stickers on the cover that said "Autographed Edition". The signatures were in thin silver paint pen. There were many out there. Yet, there were 5 versions of the signature. Without getting to technical, the publisher used an autopen with 5 signature templates that the robotic arm could use to make the signature.

Without going into a debate "well, that's Gene Simmons, he's a tool"...does not matter, autopens are used to meet the demand of a persons signature. Author or celebrity integrity has nothing to do with it.

I can see them using autopen had they been offering 100-200 copies of the book signed...but we're talking 50. If they have an autopen with Keith's signature, why stop at 50? In the spirit of making more cash, they'd no doubt offer 200+ copies--wouldn't make a difference to the robotic arm!

It could also be possible that Keith signed signature plate/sticker and they've just stuck it on the first page in the book--as opposed to Keith actually signing the physical book. This could be the most convenient for Keith.

signature plates/stickers are often autopen signed.

Sorry sad smiley

I hope the KR books are hand-signed, but keeping my expectations realistic.

Missed out. So instead I got it at Costco this evening for $16.95. At least the price was good (especially when factoring in the didn't-have-to-pay--the-internet's-P&H). Now I'm off to start reading it....

I consider booking a flight from Oslo, arriving Tuesday afternoon
just with my passport, a few quid and a sleeping bag.
How early do you think one must be to have a good place in the que?
And must the copy of LIFE come from the exact same Waterstones'
shop in Picadilly, or can I use a book&receipt from any Waterstones?

If you miss the chance of having a signed copy, there might be a new opportunity here after November 11th.
I won't promise anything untill I actually receive the books in my hand in Paris, but they HAVE SAID that we get some signed copies.
I will ask BV politely to help organize a competition as soon as the bits fall into place. Keep your fingers crossed! Cheers.
