Talking about Stones being too old - look at Tom Jones being 70. Strong voice, great blues.
Get on the road Stones, make a new CD and don't use a bad excuse being too old.

one of the best albums of the year!
it's a John Lee Hooker cover, by the way.

Some songs better than others, but on average a good album and he still can deliver his stuff.

What Good Am I, Lord Help, Strange Things, Burning Hell, Don't Knock are perfect. the rest is just absolutely stunning. what a great tribute to old blues and gospel singers!

30 ROCK last night had a hilarious subplot involving Tom Jones.

I said "Doc, I can't stop singing "The Green Green Grass of Home'."

He said: "That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome."

"Is it common?" I asked.

"It's not unusual" he replied.

His voice is still fine. I've met him a number of times over the past decade in a Manhattan restaurant. He is a gentleman. Everyone likes Tom.

Saw him perform this album in the tiny Union Chapel Islington here in London, awesome. In fact got tickets to see him do it again .......... !! In the same venue too, astonishing. Songs are great.

When have the Stones ever used age as an excuse in that way?

Great point mtaylor. There's quite a few artists getting back to basics and going for a simple sound that let's their best quality do the talking - in this case Jones' outstanding voice.
Why can't the Stones and Jagger in particular ditch the need for a glossy production and get down to making an album of simple blues and country without the need for the studio polish. It's so simple to see and most of the true fans want it but sadly the Stones still go for the big production.
