if you were allowed only ONE stones song from now on , which one
would you pick ?

this is difficult , first ,for me personally it has to be a mick taylor
era song . so that leaves out a lot of them for me but a lot still to choose from.
dont want a " hit"
then ,i would need a great keith guitar and possible harmony vocal
the more the better so : a long one would be great
ok, lets whitlle them down according to te above criteria
ya ya's , midnight rambler, sympathy , stray cat blues (possible)
sticky. can't you hear me knocking (of course) i like dead flowers , good guitars and keith harmony i got the blues , good guitars
exile all down the line , soul surviver
goats either keith is absent or mick t is left with : starf ucker . mick t drives it well and TWO keiths
iorr dance little sister, fingerprint file, (can't leave it off), through the lonely nights (same)

to cast the net wider , (but i dont need to) old stuff favourites, lady jane , ruby tuesday
newer : hand of fate , crazy mama, beast of burden, black limousine , worried about you , tops

nothing newer for me
more painful than you think, a lot of good songs there.

but the winner is : sympathy for the devil , ya ya's ,
great guitars, rhythm and solo, bass ,drums . lyrics, everything apart from a keith harmony,
I could NEVER do without listening to it .

I'd say Rocks Off, fantastic two-guitar rhythm, Nicky, Keith's harmonies, the "psychedelic" bridge, "The sunshine bores the daylights out of me" and that great little solo at the end by Mick Taylor.

Gimme Shelter - don't even have to think about it. I'll love it till the day I die.

Would have to be an Exile one. Let it loose is my favourite (obviously), but for a full on Stonesy adrenalin rush, either Rocks Off or Rip this Joint....

Ah wait...Maybe Beast of Burden

Yup Beast of Burden gets the nod. Love that twin guitar sound. Plus its the song that got me through my University finals

Surely you can't seperate Rocks Off and Rip This Joint! They belong together!

Rocks Off or Tumbling Dice for me. Two of the greatest songs of the bands career that don't get enough mainstream recognition. Both far better than Satisfaction I'd say! Is that controversial?

It still has to be Satisfaction for me. It still is the greatest song ever.

Studio: Brown Sugar
The perfect rock and roll song.

Live: All Down The Line (February 24, 1973)
Listen -- at high volume -- to this unstoppable locomotive, especially after about 2:50. It is stunning (and ridiculous) how tight the band is.

And just like that, I have obviously misremembered the question.
