"A Woman Left Lonely" / Keith

Anyone ever notice that this Janis Joplin song and "Make No Mistake" share a lot in common?

Not to mention a whole verse!

Does anyone know the reason for this? Tribute to Janis? Just liked the lyric?

Great catch, Marshall. The music is similar, but the "simple conversation/touchy situation" verse cinches it. Almost certainly subconscious borrowing. I'm wondering if Rockman can pull any info on this one. Is there an earlier song Janis borrowed from, a common thread if you will?

Hey never actually picked up on the lyric connection ....

It's a Dan Penn/Spooner Oldham track so maybe it was Keiths nod to them two Southern boys...

Think it was first recorded by Joplin but was later covered by a few different artists ....

keith:
A simple conversation
Every now and then
A touchy situation
Fascinates a man

Janis:
a simple conversation
with a new man now and again
makes a touchy situation
when a good thing's comin' to an end

You got the Sun, You got the Moon,
and you've got
The Rolling Stones
