happened to catch (half asleep) this guy on Letterman last night...the song he did sounded familiar, but not sure if it was an original or not. Been researching him a bit today - seems like an up-and-comer in the mold of Steve Earle...his third album due out today. Anyone familiar with this guy - really liked whoever was playing guitar with him last night, too....

Yes! His backing band The Dead Horses are awesome! My favorite album is "Roadhouse Sun" and check out the movie Crazy Heart for his song "The Weary Kind." I have a couple bootlegs, just him, and one with the full band.

yes i know him. he is one of the good ones. first 2 album are very nice and interesting, i'd like to see him live.

I really like him as well, his last album is great!!
My favorite album by him is Mescalito and Wishbone Saloon, this one is more Earle touch, more country in my opinion, and his song at the movie Crazy Heart are really outstanding!!

yeah, I first saw him on Letterman too--I guess the previous time he was on--and then enjoyed the music in that movie. In the accolades for the film, it seemed like he got overshadowed somewhat by T-Bone Burnett... but maybe Burnett is responsible for what there is to like about his music? Unclear to me...

I love this guy! I saw him when he was promoting his first album. Good live too.
