IORR Music Video

The song's video features a different mix/performance of this song doesn't it? The lead guitar is definitely not the same and it lacks the general sound of the album. Why is this?

I can't give a specific reason as to why they would do this, but they also re-recorded 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' for the accompanying video. So, it's not something they hadn't done before.

It used to be common to do live vocals over prerecorded instrumental tracks in videos, but why the backing track would be different is curious. perhaps they were still working with the Mick/Ron Wood original tape?

Well yeah it is, because I don't watch music videos and only saw it for the first time today. Don't use the condescending tone, makes you sound like a dick.

Was pretty diplomatic as far as I can see. Didn't say you WERE a dick, merely suggested you sounded like one from that particular post. Maybe I shouldn't have minced words.

If we are all one. That means Mick won't mind then if he took us to breakfast, dinner and supper and paid for it, since we all are one.

That's what that stupid hippie attitude says. Those kind of people need to shut up. Fortunately Mick stopped talking like a stupid hippie.

It has never been said why they recorded new versions of IORR or Jumpin' Jack Flash or Miss You when they could have just isolated (muted, left the fader down) the vocal and just did another mix of the track instead.

Sounds like they recorded a new version of Silver Train for the video of that one too.

Fair enough. See, let's kiss and make up smileys with beer

OK! Back to the original topic!

Does anyone here know details of the recording of the promo video version of 'It's Only Rock 'n' Roll'? I seem to lack all knowledge when it comes to this recording, personally.

I was always under the impression that the IORR video was the take recorded at Ron's solo album sessions and that Mick was lip synching to the vocals BUT just because I was told that doesnt make it true but it did make sense to me. If it is true I guess this recording would have been older than the album version.
