KEITH RICHARDS' GUITARS STOLEN FROM EXILE PARTY HOUSE
Work on the ROLLING STONES' landmark early 1970s album EXILE ON MAIN STREET halted after KEITH RICHARDS realised his guitars had been stolen.
The band recorded the album at the guitarist's rented French chateau, which was always full of visitors, groupies and suspicious locals, and Richards reveals the party atmosphere turned sour when his guitars went missing.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, marking the remastered re-release of the classic album, Richards recalls, "It's the South of France. What do you expect? I mean, they stick up casinos down there.
"Actually, I got most of them (guitars) back and I got the guy that did it... He ain't around no more!"
