Why not a later years singles collection?

The London Years Singles Collection is one of the best compilations ever made.
What keeps them from bringing out a Single Collection that covers the later years?
There are a lot of interesting B-sides that are not available elsewhere that would make
such a product attractive.

They did great songs in their later years, but they are underestimating these songs, you can see it in the setlists.

Great idea.

I think the reason behind this is the decreasing importance of singles after the 1960s. It was all about albums after Honky Tonk Women.

In the 1960's - in the U.K., at least - the songs released as A and B-sides were generally kept off the studio LP's. This changed in the 1970's - and as a result, IMO, some of the 'Singles Collection' uniqueness will be lost.

I'm not saying that I am against the idea, it's just that the above could be a factor in why such a compilation may not see the light of day.

It'd probably be easier to just release one CD with non-album B-sides (that'd probably just about fit).

Really? Brown Sugar and Wild Horses on another compilation? How many would that make?

Because all of those songs are on...Rarities, Sucking In The Seventies, Collectibles...eh, maybe a few others that actually don't exist ha ha...

I'd buy it. One of the reasons The London Years is such fun is that you get a kind of fast-forward effect as their music changes and develops as the years and the singles go by.

But 70 - 90 tracks is too many: maybe we need Part 1 and Part 2....

I can imagine a box set in the vein of the London Singles Collection box set, but this time with the covers of the singles in colour.... cool.

would be pointless unless they use the right single mixes

They do it right with some of the mixes in the first edition of the London Singles box set, back in 1989.

not entirely true. singles were very relevant in '70s & less relevant when CDs appeared in '80s. and more relevant now with individual song downloads.
