Plundered my soul or any other Exile song?

Which song would you give up on Exile to make room for Plundered my soul?

As for me, I can't find any. I understand very well why PMS was left in the vault, although it's always nice when old forgotten stuff see the day of light. But compared to Rocks off, Rip this joint, Tumblin dice, Sweet Virginia, All down the line, Happy, Let it loose, Stop breaking down and the others, PMS is just a filler for the album. Great fun to have at this time, but I can see why it was left out of the original album.

It's impossible to say. Had PMS been finshed in 1972 and contain the same mood and atmosphere as the best of Exile, it would be easier to say.

There wasn't place enough for one more?

No way you cant tamper with perfection. Yeah, I love PMS, but no way could it have taken the place of any song on Exile. Exile is a perfect artistic statement and complete!

The Stones must have thought long and hard about which songs to include and exclude on Exile. If you had been the record producer, which Exile song might you have deleted in favor of Plundered My Soul? I suppose album continuity and song preference would be at least two factors to consider.

I would have omitted Just Want To See His Face. I never liked that one particularly. I would have made PMS Track 3, behind Rip This Joint, leaving 18 tracks as on the original Exile release.

See what I'm getting at?

this same topic has been posted before.

Not should be removed from EOMS. It is perfect and I Just Wanna See His Face is fantastic! Swamp gosple that perfectly sets up Let it Loose! Sublime.

Face is the best song on Exile. Plundered isn't even an Exile song.

next!!!!

earlier this week i was thinking how well Exile is sequenced for a live show. fits right in with the "formula"

the opening 5:
Rocks Off
Rip This Joint
Hip Shake
Casino Boogie
Tumbling Dice

then the slower numbers:
Sweet Virginia
Black Angel

to end the 1st half of the show:
Torn & Frayed
Loving Cup - just the right EOMS tune for a Lisa verse, at just the right point in the show.

the Keith spot in just the right place:
Happy

on to the B, with 3 obscure tunes:
Turd on the Run
Ventilator Blues
I Just Want to See His Face

back to the main for the home stretch:
Let It Loose
All Down the Line
Stop Breaking Down
Shine a Light

encore:
Soul Survivor

just can not believe how well EOMS is sequenced for a live performance. it's perfect!!!!

in my mind, I Just Want to See His Face is done with the lights way down low, so all you can see are the Stones faces as they work their way back to the main stage. it's quit eerie and it is the perfect lead in to Let it Loose. in my mind, it is also the highlight of the show.

the more i have thought about it, the more i have been thinking the fact that EOMS has never been done live in its entirety (by the Stones, that is) is just plain tragic. every song is on the album in just the right spot.

as far as Plundered goes, i would rather see it added to the B set maybe at the 1st or 2nd spot.

I like and enjoy Plundered for what it is. But as for it fitting onto Exile? umm, no...

PMS fits GHS much more than Exile, but as with Save Me they simply had better material ready.

It would have been the highlight had it been on Dirty Work, and filler if it was on the original Exile.

I don't thinks PMS fits on GHS. The sound and the atmosphere of the song don't match with the melancholic tinted GHS. I would say: on IORR, instead of Ain't too proud to beg, IORR or Luxury.

I am not sure which would be the bigger crime...putting "Plundered" ON Exile, or taking "Just Wanna See His Face" OFF! Leave perfection alone!

The backing track is clearly from the November/December 1972 Jamaica sessions that resulted GHS.

I bet they didn't complete it as it was too much an unfinished re-run of Tumbling Dice, and Jagger was more interested in tracks like Fast Talking, Tops, Waiting OAF, Seperately etc.

I agree with kleermaker - the IORR-type sound of the song.
But who knows ????
