Ian Stewart Tribute Album - Ben Waters

Hi everyone, I just received the following email today from Ben Waters:

Hi Guys

I am sat in a hotel lobby in Dusseldorf and enjoying the first day off for a long time, despite the drizzly gloom hanging over the city.

Ady, Rich and I are mid tour, we did a few days in Finland and then flew to Dusseldorf where my very good friend Ben De Candole met us with my van and all the equipment. We did a couple of gigs for Sounds Promotion in Rathenow and Rugen as these had been hastily arranged and the weather was really bad (6 foot snow drifts) there was a smaller audience than normal, although we had a great time and we are really grateful for all those who braved the freezing conditions to make the gigs very special. All the other gigs on the tour have been sold out, these concerts are venues that have booked us over many years. This has to be the best tour we have ever had, musically and for sheer fun! We still have four more concerts to do before we head back to Blighty.

Just before I came away to Germany I did a very special recording session. I decided that I wanted to do a tribute album to Ian Stewart, Pianist and founder member of the Rolling Stones. "Stu" was a massive influence on me and a friend of the family. The album has now been recorded feat. Charlie Watts, Dave Green, Jools Holland, Ronnie Wood, Pj Harvey and there is a few more special guests to be announced very soon. The album features mostly Boogie Woogie and Blues material that Stu Loved. All the profits are going to go to the British Heart Foundation. The album should be out later this year.

The web site will have all the information very soon

I hope to see you at a gig soon www.benwaters.com (for info on gigs)

Take Care

Ben

I'm not familiar with Ben Waters, but I will look forward to this. Anything with PJ Harvey involved and I'm there. I think she's brilliant.

I think this is one of the nicest ideas I've heard for a long time. It's for Stu and in his honour with proceeds going to a great charity.

I was lucky enought to see Stu play live with Rockett 88 and Charlie back in the early 80's. He was such a nice, normal guy and very unasuming. He signed ny "Never Stop" bootleg on vinyl and said "what the f**** this."

I'm sure all Stones fans will be pleased to hear this tribute.

Steve.

By the way I never understood why the Stones memorial gig for Stu at the 100 Club was not released as a charity album for the Heart Foundation (songs only, of course). It would have been a great way of remebering him for all the fans.

Boogie With Stu

You mean that this is the title of the Ben Waters CD?
Or do you refer to the Led Zep song?
