Terrible news and very sad. All of the Sparklehorse discs are great, beautifully played and often very inventive. A native Virginian, he recorded much of his early stuff right here in Richmond (US).

It's so so sad....a great loss. He tried once before and became crippled in a wheelchair for a while, as a result (having lain for 14 hours without being found after ODing on antidepressants).

Shooting yourself in the heart...enormous existential pain :-(

I spent much of the weekend trying to organize music and discs etc, and came across "Good Morning Spider" and "Dreamt For Lightyears..". I hadn't listened to them in ages, and pulled them out to get with today. Then this. Very sad.

Wow......just saw this and I'm shocked. I grew up and went to school with Mark's two younger half-brothers and knew his dad and step mom.

Sad News RIP

Takes some guts to do this... most of the people I see crawl thru their life (and they don't even realize it).

I had never heard of his band or him so I just took a 5 or 6 tour song on Youtube and found that what I listened to, though far from upbeat, was VERY nice on the ears. Based on my sampling, I'll check out more of his work.

It's a shame that his death is what introduced me to his music.
