It's from a live performance on Top Of The Pops - that's all I know. I love "Richmond" too - not just because it's an absolutely beautiful song but because I live there.

The Birds' singer Ali Mackenzie is still around and has reformed the group - but I don't know what became of their lead guitarist.

Either way it shows how the Jagger/Richards songwriting team extends to other musicians esp. when covering such a beautiful song like this.

I think Mick said they could recorded this on the condition that it would NOT be released as a single.
