I must say this one is a little cryptic.

But you may guess

It means the Stones will never play it live.

Why would they play a song from 1967/1968 live? Are you still doing the things which you did in 1968? Besides still expect too much of this life?

I don't think Mick and Keith have the vocal range left in them anymore to do the high parts-especially at the end of the song. This may possibly be my favorite song of theirs.

I was pooping in diapers in 1968. Fortunately, I don't do THAT anymore.

Let's see: a non-LP b-side from 1968 in the live repertoire more than 40 years later? Not bloody likely. It's window of opportunity passed with the 2002-03 theatre shows.

Why would they play a song from 67/68 live?

Why do they still play f**** "Satisfaction" all the time??

Thats what musical directors and backing vocalists are used for. The original studio recording should just be a template. Any decent performing artist should be capable of adapting or rearranging it.

GREAT song. JJF/Child of the Moon is their greatest ever single, in my opinion.

What is it with people that have keeffriffhard in their name here? All of them don't seem to get anything.

Including THE OBVIOUS.

Great! grinning smiley

This forum is about a band who had their biggest hits in the 1960's and 70's and people asking why they should play a song from 1968. It's a crazy world we're living in, really.

Say what you will but Child of the Moon would have been a great song played in the outdoor stadiums when the moon is overhead. And instead of the blow-up women used in '89 and '90 during Honky Tonk Women, they could have blow-up infants and toddlers...

Not to open a can of worms here; I say this in innocence - but I think "Child of the Moon" live with Taylor would have smoked it.
And I really think they could do "We Love You" in present day. If need be change the key, but it is all, about stacked choir effect. The 3 BU guys do that, and Jagger comes in at the chunky parts. "We don't care if you hound we.."
Especially with today's lightshows and all - this is a highlight waiting to catch Cohl's eye.

Under the radar is a kind of 00s child of the moon

"Child of the Moon rests reassured to stay in peace"

A. a reference that the US is too broke to fund NASAs "back to the moon in 10 years" program. thus the child of the moon won't be disturbed for awhile.

or

B. it's a reference to a *6*-string open tuned guitar song that won't get played because it won't make the transition to 5 string like JJF

Or the song will remain as it is and not be hacked apart by being played on any tour if they do ever tour again...

Hmmm, you mean like Jumping Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man and so on? Why indeed...

A was the good answer, winter is the winner, Bravo!

B is a really smart hypothesis (if you are right on that strings story), you impress me a lot
