Hang Fire

I've always liked this performance (or whatever one(s) I have from whatever 81 boots. There's one with horns that is terrible. But this one is OK.

Didn't they do it on the Licks tour or am I confusing that with Neighbours? They only did it on the Tattoo You tours?

On the first clip "Hang Fire" Ron is soooooooooooo wasted!! Keith is great and the song really rocks.

not since '82, skippy - the '82 european tour had the horns, not present on the '81 versions...

It was rehearsed in 1999 and 2005.

Great song if it's the studio take. I don't care much for the live versions. I wish they'd do it today in the great laid back rock 'n roll style version that they made Respectable from NS, and Neighbours from Licks in. That treatment did wonders for those two songs, and Hang Fire being in the same vein would benefit from it too I think. Take away the punk and smear it with some old school rock 'n roll. That's the key.

i'm glad you're there to defend the indefensible, kent! your work here does not go unnoticed!

What I like about the live version is that you can really hear how the guitar (Keith) goes, what it's doing, whereas on the record it's sort of a gobbligooked mash up with a lead guitar in there. This live version the rhythm guitar chugs.

Great tune regardless.

Shitall, why did they add horns to this track? I heard that on some boot I have and had to turn it off. The FARK were they thinking?

Nice song, but before '81 it would have been outtake material. Mick was scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill up TY w/material.

EEEEK! Boarders on total cheese, with Mick prancing in his yellow warm up pants and knee pads....the only saving grace here is that Keith is up loud and raunchy.

It's a funny song - it's certainly not a Classic but for me it's one of their classic songs. It sneers, it tears, lyrically it's hilarious, it's got the doo doo doo doo doo's...

The bad thing with the 82 tour compared to the 1981 tour is the change of keyboard player: Leavell instead og McLagan. Leavell doesn't sound good on the contrary on some songs sound terrible .

I started a thread `bout this song some time ago. I was ranting. I just think it`s one of those mid-career, uptempo throwaways...(rush-rock)

It's always been one of my faves and the band I was in we played it for a few shows even. It was a lot of fun. And when people finally realised what we were doing they started really digging it.

I hate the annoying backing vocals...
I hate the simpleness of the song...

Conclusion? DiamondDog7 STILL hates Hang Fire!

OMG - Did Ronnie last the whole show. He's almost keeling over. Unbelievable. Keith is priceless. He holds the thing together.

Fabulous. Never cared so much for the studio version, but live it was fantastic.

Multi-millionaire rockstars having a pop at people on the dole. Not their finest moment from a lyrics POV.
