Mick is buddies with Wycleaf Jean and I believe he is from there, maybe he can coordinate - sounds like a great idea for another one of those grand MSG shows like after 9/11 -

Well thier probably will be some sort of All-Star concert for Haiti. But I doubt you will see any particpation by the Stones as a whole. They've gone to great lenghths to make it clear they will not be touring. So I doubt they would all come together for just 1 show. No matter what the cause. But Mick might participate. HE showed up at the RRHOF show at MSG last year. Seems like he wants to do something.

It won't be necessary:

Haiti Earthquake
US ups ante on Haitian assistance, commits $100M

President Barack Obama dispatched thousands of troops to help stabilize Haiti Thursday and promised $100 million or more in quick earthquake aid, putting the U.S. firmly at the head of a relief effort of historic proportions.

There will be no accountability of designated funds whatsoever. Money driven relief effort needs serious oversight and sound logistics.

SALT OF THE EARTH
M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Let's drink to the salt of the earth

Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth

And when I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and black and white
They don't look real to me
In fact, they look so strange

Raise your glass to the hard working people
Let's drink to the uncounted heads
Let's think of the wavering millions
Who need leaders but get gamblers instead

Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
His empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio

And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and black and white
They don't look real to me
Or don't they look so strange

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Let's drink to the salt of the earth

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's drink to the salt of the earth
Let's drink to the two thousand million
Let's think of the humble of birth

Neither a PPV show nor a "single" one by the Stones would do it.

I think there is not much sense doing a show ( by several or single artists )
for a charity reason and exclude at the same time most of the people, who are
concerned and/or interested.

The Live Aid and Live 8 worldwide broadcasts sponsored by the big networks
and companies ( meanwhile Internet as well ) were much more suitable to transport
a message and a certain spirit and conscious.

If this is or will be the right instrument for the victims of Haiti earthquake
is hard to say at the moment, but it could be one tool to rebuild this poor
country.

I doubt the Stones are able to do a more or less spontanous show at the moment anyway....

To say it´s not neccessary ´cause enough money will be raised by other means
is ,to say it mildly, rubbish !

You may take into account that helping of some artists, despite liking them
or not,may be an important factor for others to follow and support.

What the hell is wrong with that ?
The possibility some might use this to promote their own career ?
So what ?

some in the entertainment industry are beginning to step up. (Clooney, Pitt, Jolie,)
I wouldn't be surprised to see Jagger participate in a benefit concert of some kind. I'd like to see him do a bunch of songs with Paul McCartney and his band.

well, it could happen...

Debbie Downer? Chris, again, if you don't want to donate, fine, but I don't understand why you keep discouraging others from doing so. Are you upset that our tax dollars are going to the relief effort? I understand if that's how you feel, but your claim of "no accountability" is incorrect.

..and Keith & Ronnie significantly didnt play with Mick. Both of them only showed up because Dylan asked them to two days before.

Forget it. If the Stones are outside the confines of a tour, they effectively cease to exist as a band.

I'm not counting on it happening either. But a benefit could sure raise lots of money for the survivors fast!

And if there is a benefit, it would be a nice way for us all to see the Stones unite one more/last time. We, the fans, can try to guilt them into it! Ha!
The Stones could just do a short set, if there multiple acts on the bill,

I donated to the Red Cross today anyway...

Agree totally, schillid, but you also have the added problem that Mr Wood, for one, is probably some '2000 light years from home' at the minute when it comes to being capable of performing in public.

Shit, by the time the Stones get it together to rehearse yet alone figure out a set list Haiti will be rebuilt.

Maybe Ronnie can handle it if he practices just those 3 or 4 songs for a few days.

Haitians need countries to bring supplies, tents and heavy equipment along with concrete crushing machines.

Some say it was a poorly built area but I saw lots of heavy reinforced concrete slabs with rebar laying all over. Compared to the frame houses of New Orleans they seemed quite solid.

All able Haitian men should be immediately mobilized into rescue and cleanup efforts.

The Red Cross claims that the United States national Red Cross has raised 37 million dollars towards the relief effort from donations. They also say that 91 cents of every dollar donated will go to the rescue effort in Haiti.

All of the Opec nations should donate $1.00 for every barrel of oil purchased on the open market for 30 days.
