Since I'm not English or American I have some trouble in understanding some of the Stones lyrics. Could someone help me on the following? What does the verse "Yes I got the desert in my toenail and I hid the speed inside my shoe" mean? Thank you

It means he's got sand in shoes and the speed ( drugs ) is hidden in his shoes
