Confessions of a Sities Drummer ,the 1960 's London R&B scene.

Interesting quotes and thoughts from the Stones (Brian ,Keith ,Mick & Bill ) on Carlo Little ,one of Britain's most influencial drummer ,and how he turned down the Rolling Stones.

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

Thanks, SwayStones!

Here's "Country Line Special" so often mentioned on that site - Cyril Davies on harp. Mick and Brian tried to get Cyril Davies to teach them but by all accounts he didn't want these kids copying him. There's a quote in one of the books where Mick asks "How do you bend notes like that?" and Cyril says "Well, you get a pair of pliers..."

There are 3 signatures on there claiming to be Mick Jagger (and one Keith) - I hope one of them is real! Nicky deserves to be recognised.

Interesting. Thanx Sway!

I'm collecting Music/ and mainly Stones books.
But often the most interesting and/or funny Stones stories are in other peoples' bios!

Speaking of 60's drummers: Finally Ginger Bakers biography has been released as well.
He did the foreword in GG's quite good Not fade away book but his view of the Stones often seemed to vary!
As a drummer myself I'm looking forward to read it nevertheless . .

Thank you SwayStones. Fabulous link. In 1979 I went to London for the first time. Of course I checked out the Marquee Club on Wardour street. I saw a R&B band called the QTips with Paul Young. It was great. I love that club. I went back in 1987 and I saw Sylvain Sylvain. I went backstage to say hello to Sylvain. He speaks french. The backstage was like a hallway, very narrow. While I was there, I was @#$%& tripping, thinking all the rock stars of the 60's and 70's at one point stood in that little corridor. That place is gone now, but I still think about it.
Rock and Roll,
Mops
