Rolling Stones Tour Sponsors

Any idea of how many sponsors there have been? I know Budweiser is a common one. Sprint. Who was the first one? Jevon or something like that? I remember Volkswagen sponsoring the Voodoo Euro tour. I think.

Website? Someone know? Just curious.

Whoever their sponsors were for the Australian tours, it wasn't very effective - I can't even remember there being one. Actually, I think there was one for Licks, but I was way too excited to notice.

EDIT: If I cared enough for over priced shiite, I would've bought a tour/concert program and would be able to check it.

Labatt is a new one. I forgot about those...trading idiots. The Tommy Hilfiger hype was everywhere.

It should be noted that, except for Budweiser (Augie IV was a big fan apparently), no one appears to have sponsored a Stones tour more than once.

Ok..Why don't these sponsors instead of trying to make a quick dollar promoting a Rolling Stones' tour spend more efforts helping the needy? Why is it necessary to have a sponsor when band is already declared multi-millionaires? Why not give back to society whom helped business arrive at this success in the first place?

HA HA! Right. The Stones could easily afford to sponsor their own tour. U2 have done it for years. Granted, they didn't make a ton of money either but they sure didn't seem to be in it for the money. This go round I dunno. Do they have a sponsor for 360?

Blame it on the Stones. They started it.

Mostly because sponsors aren't philanthropists grinning smiley
Neither the sponsors ,nor the Stones.

That's why they are multi-millionaires .
Tough to hear but it's called reality .Money calls money .

What's disturbing? Let's take stadium names for example. Joe Robbie on own accord generated funds for creation of Joe Robbie Stadium. Identity and efforts were stolen as Corp America unleashed following names:

Pro Player Park, Pro Player Stadium, Dolphins Stadium (only exception), and now Land Shark Stadium (Jimmy Buffet himself owns/promotes that brewery).

It should be about folks, history, and memories not corporations.

Ford Motors sponsored 1975. It's in Spanish Tony's book. Also, Keith got his heroin from some pharmaceutical source so as to avoid messy drug busts.

I forgot about Blackberry for U2's 360. That's memorable eh? Ha ha.

Any friendly bets on who will sponsor the next tour? AT&T? Ha ha, Microsoft? Maybe a different beer company? Wal-Mart? Home Depot?

Who needs hype? I think Budweiser does it just because they like to make the promotional material.

Castrol. The UK 1998 shows that got postponed due to tax reasons. They had great stuff available in UK like T-shirts etc.

Official local Tourist Authorities in Spain, like Malaga, Zaragosa, Vigo etc. Great way to bring the Stones into town when you need some extra publicity and tourists.

No problem with that. Let the "folks" pay for it.

Managers and artists like to make the claim that sponsorship lowers ticket prices.

I remember the stupid hats they sold at the Licks Tour, I think?????

Just a plain, nice, black, baseball-cap with the Stones logo on the front BUT T-Mobile written at the back!!!! I bought one for my mate and she absolutely hated it, never even wore it I think.....but then again, whatever, I think I wore it a couple of times (bought one for myself as well, of course).

Oh and yes, I remember the Radeberger and SAT1 sponsored German tour!!!
I still have about a miollion of these beer-cups somewhere, they charged you a small amount of money for bringing them back but in the end, hardly any of me and my mates did!!!!

And the Licks tour had beer-cups with the band and something else on it too - didn't it??? confused smiley
