Keith's autobiography 'nearly finished'

''Mick Jagger once signed up with Lord Weidenfeld to write his memoirs, before realising he could not remember anything and so returned his advance. When Weidenfeld’s publishing house then announced in mid-2007 that it had signed a deal for Keith Richards’s autobiography, I thought fat chance, particularly after he had just fallen out of a coconut tree. Guess what? It’s nearly finished, albeit with a little help from his writer pal, James Fox.''

Naw, Jagger realised that there would still be plenty more to write - whereas Keith - he realised the next time he fell off his perch, it might not be metaphorically.

I'm really curious to see how the long the book will be and how much depth it will have. This thing, in theory, has so much potential. I really hope Keith does righteous by this book and hits it out of the park.

I'm curious, Exactly WHAT do you expect to read in this book that would be the slightest bit interesting or revelatory? I, personally, can't think of anything. I'm just asking. I like the music his band made in the 70's but beyond that ....

Until now the story ha been told by others (Spanish Tony, ahem, an IQ of 150...
below zero, acc. to Tarlé) so I can see Keith wants to set the record straight.

The part about bribing British coppers in the late 60's might be tasty >grinning smiley<

When I saw the thread title, I thought it meant that 'Nearly Finished' was the name of the book.

I think that's correct as autobiography is never finished

I'm sure it will be a fun read but so much of it will be full of complete toss that it should be shelved under "fiction" in any library.

I'll bet its the best one yet, and knowing KR, he'll read it and remember what he left out and do a second version later...

First one should be a good in depth look - I'll never forget the details he told me about Sacramento when I told him I lived there- something about rats in the hospital after he got electrocuted, details, details of a night he got zapped in the 60s, and he told me this in 97 -

Like Duane mentioned I have to wonder how much will be new or revealing in this book. It would be refreshing if he would cover the creative process and his remembrance of studio sessions and live gigs. Assuming of course he can remember...

I just hope he puts in the bit about Muddy Waters painting the walls.

He can't talk about shagging other women as he's been married to the same woman for several years and is STILL married to her so he can't go there.

He can't talk about how much hard drugs he did recently or is STILL doing as he has tour promoters and insurance companies and his family to answer to, so he can't go there.

He can't talk about what idiots Mick or Ronnie are as he still has to face them on stage and in the studio on a sort of regular basis.

As a matter of fact he really can't spill the beans about anybody who's still alive as he might run into them somewhere or get a writ from their lawyer. So when it comes down to it he can only talk about dead people like Brian Jones or Muddy Waters or blather on about his Montreal bust or the Ancient Art of Weaving or how he took a string off his guitar cause he really didn't need it or how he invented Open Tuning or how Satisfaction came to him in a dream or how he recorded Jumpin Jack Flash on an acoustic guitar through a cassette tape player or how Andrew Loog Oldham fabricated their badboy image to counter the Beatles clean image and yadda yadda yadda...... there it is, there's the whole book!
