Very rare Rolling Stones DAT master tape from Virgin Records for 'Like A Rolling Stone'.
Dated 06-10-95 , this tape was sent from the UK Virgin HQ to Virgin Records in The Netherlands, and used to press the Dutch two-track CD.
See picture 3, where Holl is written with a black marker, to indicate that Holland was the destination for this master.
This is a 44.1 K Equalised Production Clone.
The cd pressed from this master was released in Holland and ready for release in the UK, but withdrawn with only promo copies excisting.
It became a small hit for the long lived band with this gem written by Bob Dylan.
The master tape contains two versions of the song, an edit lasting 4:20 min. and the original album version [ 5:37 min].
Latter version appeared on the much acclaimed Stripped album, which was released in 1995 also.
Very nice collector's item, maybe only one or two existing in the whole wide world!

HOW DID I GET THIS RARE ITEM?

When I had a record shop in the nineties, A Virgin sales man came to the store every two weeks. He brought promo items, displays and other rare stuff.
Being a Stones fan too, he presented me the little gem for having great sales on the Stones albums.
He got it form Virgin HQ in Holland.
The shop is closed now, and time has come to clear my stock, containing many rarities.

Secondly, the story about the tape was true; it is an interesting item with a strange story behind it

This is the only DAT I'd pay money for.

i read once that dat tape deteriorates much quicker than analog tape
