RESCUER STABBED : The newspaper from Exile
Posted by: schillid ()
Date: November 13, 2009 18:41

I did a basic keyword search of the online archives at LA Times and found this dated Feb 23, 1972. The headlines are similar but not identical. Does that date seem possible for the Stones' famous walk along Main Street, L.A.?

Finally...
bonus points if anyone can identify the photo on the front page that day...

I just confirmed via Wikipedia. That's when Tricky Dick met Mao, got drunk on Plum Wine, and increased U.S. imports of ping pong tables!

Good to read at the end that the victim's wounds weren't serious

I wonder if that guy ever realized his (in)famous indignity on the album cover.
victim would be 79 now btw

DOUBLE BONUS POINTS
if we can find that photo Nixon from the front page that day

EDIT:
Although... come to think of it,
that might make this thread turn political,
which would be a bad thing

If I take a taxi to a restaurant I do know Mick visited for a meal on tour, then ask for a table where he actually was sitting back then (I am sure every waiter in the house have the complete story), and then ask for the same meal and service Mick had, then the question is:

- Is this normal for a serious Stones fan?
- Do I need help?
- Should I use other ways to find out where to dine out?

The same applies for other things in life...

Maybe it should have been posted here:

Then it would have been part of the great forum links on the home page.
