MONO Sticky Fingers out on boot??

a friend( who has reliable ties to the bootleg industry) just told me the Promo MONO Sticky Fingers was gonna finally get booted. Anyone else heard this or know more details on obtaining it? I know we have collectors here that have/have had copies of the vinyl but I'm hoping someone will finally give the rest of us a chance to hear it that can't afford to mortgage the house to obtain a copy!

Bits and pieces of the mono cuts from Sticky Fingers have been out for years on various bootlegs. The full album mixed for mono would be great!

Then : Sticky Fingers the alternate album (outtakes and unreleased)

01- brown sugar (early vocal/no lead guitar, mono)
02- sway (no overdubs, mono)
03- wild horses (unplugged stereo mix, no overdubs)
04- good time women (early version of "tumbling dice " )
05- silver train (early version)
06- you gotta move (mono-mix)
07- bitch (original 7'' mono-mix)
08- i got the blues (mono-mix, recorded off monitor)
09- sister morphine (basic stereo-mix)
10- all down the line (early rehearsal)
11- travellin' man (unreleased song)
12- potted shrimp (unreleased instrumental)
13- aladdin story (unreleased instrumental)
14- leather jacket (unreleased instrumental)
15- wild horses (1969 rehearsal/keith and mick taylor)
16- wild horses (gram parsons on pedal steel guitar)
17- brown sugar (different guitar part)
18- brown sugar (another different mix)
19- brown sugar (original 7'' mono-mix)
20- let it rock (recorded at leed university, 13 march 1971. was included on spanish "sticky fingers" lp in place of sister morphine, and as a third song on uk-brown sugar 7'' original mono-mix)

So do you mean the last one as a promo rec ?

The album never came out in mono and other than the early demos listed above and Brown Sugar single cuts I don't believe there are any other mono studio tracks.

There was a mono promo release of Sticky Fingers on LP. A record collector friend of mine, on a par with stones-relics, aka JR, has one.

The US single Wild Horses / Sway(alternate vocals & mix) is also in mono.

You can use Audacity or Adobe Audition or something and make your mono recording if you think it sounds so good when all instruments come from the same direction. I'm sure that bootleggers did nothing else with these mono releases. I don't understand what's so great about mono when you can have stereo. People always want the early abkco recordings in stereo and now this... winking smiley

Well, in 1971 AM radio still was a major player. I know this promo is official(as ChrisM says above). There was also a Promo Mono "Jamming With Edward"(can you believe that?) As far if this album is a "fold down" or whatever the term is I dont know although I suspect its not as there were mono versions of BS,Bitch, Sway and later mono 45 versions made of Tumbling Dice and All Down The Line. As I said in the early 70s AM radio was still holding on against FM. midnrambler,as much as I respect your opinions(and I do!) I think you are selling genuine MONO mixes short.Up until the late 60s Mono was top dog! The Beatles didnt even bother with being involved with the stereo mixes(leaving it all up to Martin) for years. There were US Mono mixes, UK Mono mixes, single mono mixes, mono mixes made for TV bcasts. So I think Mono is a bit more than all the sound coming outta one speaker! I like stereo mixes but theres something to the Hot 45 sound of the 60s and 70s to me.
AND the OFFICIAL Mono Beggars and Let It Bleed kick a-s!!

thanks, mitch I wondered why it said cd plus cdr! you too, riccardo!mitch, will the test of EXILE be high interest?

I think your statement was written with tongue firmlay planted in cheek. As scottkeef rightly points out, it's not so much that the recording is in mono but rather the mono mixes are different from their stereo counter-parts.

I hope, but I really doubt it. Contrarly to an acetate, a test pressing has near never different versions/takes/mixes of the songs included on the finished official release.

That's probably why this CDr will be a gift...

Hope I'm wrong.

Sometimes it´s hard to really tell the difference in the mixes between mono and stereo - but mono can sound heavier/punchier.
I would not want to live without the original mono releases of Aftermath / Buttons / Satanic / Beggars / Let It Bleed.
And it would be interesting the hear Sticky in mono!

unsurpassable dynamic in monoraul. That's it.

a stereo recording folded down to mono is pointless and can be done at home very easily even without a pc. but if there were an actual mono mix made with the multitrack tapes , that would definitely be interesting to hear.

blu-stone, is that the one with the EXILE disc too? I wondered if thats why the price was kinda steep where I saw it listed. I personally could take or leave the Exile test pressing! Email me if you are interested in a trade or can hook me up with a decent deal?

sorry,blu-stone! My 50 yr old eyes see the "Exile" on the sticker now.
