Just found this on youtube, it's from the Altermont concert, very raw.

There was a thread recently about that clip though [www.iorr.org]

The Stones performance at Altamont was very good - pretty amazing considering what was going on around them. Adds to the legend that they were the princes of darkness.

That guitar sound the Stones got out of their amps at this time is just amazing - earthy, grunty...delicious.

Notice he does not sing "hear him whip the women" on the very first performance.

This puzzles me.

I always thought this performance and the 70-71 versions were more true to the studio arrangement than any others. (IMO) Was it with the 72 tour Jagger also started singing "like a young boy should" instead of girl? Not that I care about someone's sexual orientation but seems like that didnt fit the idea of the song.

agreed. In fact I think it's arguably their best live performance. Some of the songs from this show are "best-ever" versions.

The Altamont in its raw originality is (over-all) an incredible performance, but I think they really mastered "Brown Sugar" in 1972/73 tours. Thë way they worked the intro - I don't know how - the dual guitars or what, just made it so transcendental... Just listen to Brussels or Perth... eye popping smiley

Olympic , London on Keiths birthday (12-18)? Also wasnt this take considered for official release? Or is that a rumour?
