I, too, like this song, and in fact only own the Jacksons' Victory album because of it. It was indeed recorded with the full Jacksons (all 6 of them), not just MJ alone. It's the only Jacksons' album I own, and only because of Mick's attachment.

which leads an ignorant roofless building to ask ......
'what is the Stones' connection with Don Johnson?'

Here's the deal. MJ wanted Mick to fly to LA to record his part. Mick said "I am not flying 3,000 miles to record with MJ, so if you want me to do it, I'll record my part and send it to you, otherwise forget it". So it goes MJ sent the tapes, Mick recorded his part and the rest is HISTORY.

I belong to to the minority here but I like "State of Shock". It's a nice dance number with a strong riff. Compared to Jackson's duets with McCartney - soft ballads - I think Jagger gets his 'persona' great through. One dimension of Mick. Despite their differences I think Mick is nowadays glad that he did that duet with Michael; it is really a part of history now, and will be most likely his most listened "solo" effort in future... In fact, it was a top three hit in US - so that's his biggest chart position in US outside the Stones (In UK he topped the charts with Bowie duet)...
One thing that I think is a kind of 'historical loss' is that they never did a video for it - it was the golden age of video time, and both Mick and Michael were so fascinated of the 'new' media. Why was that? Bad personal relationship? No time? Michael's Pepsi accident? Anyway, it would have been nice to see them performing together (nowadays when the song is in youtube it is just Jackson, Jackson, Jackson... an image loss for Mick...)

Second worst thing Jagger has done.
Let's Work being the first, of course.

If you really want to put into perspective what Ronnie did with Don Johnson, read his book and then add cocaine. It all makes sense.
However, Don's album doesn't reflect that. It's just pure shit.
