Together you could make a killer single album out of these. It seems the songwriting got lazy....then more lazy. I think it started with Dirty work. Made a rebound with SW, then regressed again.

Each had some great moments.

I listened to VL this weekend. Some great songs on there, but I agree w/ most of you that it was just too long and had too much filler.

Mark,
too long ?
every Stones CD should be a double for me
I'm a fan since 45 years but I still have the passion to
listen all the song from the first to the last song.
What you call a filler could be my favorite song.

ABB, even if I would have liked more involvement from Keith, which would have turned then this album as a potential rival to pre-Wood period albums. Dropping five to six songs would have added more consistency to this great achievement.

Steel Wheels. Ressurection / Turning point to the final leg we are currently experiencing. Some real great stuff in that one. Mixed Emotions, Continental Drift, Rock and a Hard Place are The Stones I can play ad lib. An atmosphere I enjoyed in Aftermath or Satanic Request.

BTB / VL. Aside few moments ( Saint of Me, Out Of Control), I think they are a waste of time to be compared to Dirty Work.
