I'm not especially religious (brought up Catholic) but am slightly Spiritual (basically have my own non complicated, logical - IMHO - belief system/Helter religion). I've always thought there was something "up" with Dylan, that the dude was some kind of Prophet on some level (don't laugh). I've been in "small-space surroundings" with 2 Rock Icons - George Harrison and Bob Dylan. Harrison was actually back stage at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles at a Dylan Concert (around the time of the song SILVIO). There was only a small handful of people talking to Harrison after the concert so I stood there and slightly interacted. Amazing to be 5 feet away from a Beatle for 1/2 an hour but besides his talent and fame he was really just another lucky guy from Liverpool in the end - no special vibe.

Now I had Dylan 2 seats away from me on an overnight flight from Brazil to Dallas on American Airlines in 1998 on a 767 (in Economy class!!! That's Dylan). He took the center section (3 seats - just him and a body guard type - middle seat was empty). He was up front (kinda) by the flight attendant area scanning the passengers to, IMO, weed out the potential Dylan fans. I was baked on Wine, Beer, and sleeping Pills. We made eye contact and he gave me a look like, "don't even think of bugging me you 30 something? 40? year old dude. I know you know who I am".... there was no question. Later on my Girl Friend went over to were he was sitting and he had the blanket across his face right under/across his eyes. As she approached he just looked at her with a "Don't bug the Bob" look. He looked at least 10 years older and walked like he had back pain but when we landed in Texas he was GONE like lightening. This dude had a very strong vibe around him that I wouldn't call 100% normal/regular. Why would it be impossible for him to be a modern day prophet? Yeah, just a song and dance man. As a human being, I think he is a complete idiot. The backstage mood at Dylan shows is completely different to Stones shows. Intelectuals or better wanna-be intellectuals all over the place, and Dylan full of self-importance. One wrong word and you have a thousand eyes and embarrassed looks on ya. Makes you feel like shit. Not my scene. Love his music, though. But many Dylan fans behave like members of a secret church, thinking they are wiser than anybody else in the interpretation of his Bobness' words. Definitely a "prophet and his followers" scene. It shakes and shivers me when even thinking about these idiots. Some even name him "master". Well, the world had a "Fuehrer" not too long ago. I like Dylans quote "dont follow leaders". Thats probably why he most probably hates most of his followers.

So let me get this straight, if it was 2000 something years ago and Dylan was talked about in this special little black book that is said to be the word of God that would make it easier to discuss, more believable??? In the Bible there seem to be prophets on every street corner and no one blinks an eye.... Today's Religious people totally buy into it (same with the muslim and Jewish religion) but since it's modern days it's not possible anymore.... Prophets hung around 2000 years ago and it was no big deal but these days, in modern times, it's all considered foolish....OK, makes 100% sense to me.....

It's easier for some to have the answers given to them than it is to seek them out on their own. A prophet can be anyone from Bob to the guy on the street asking for spare change. If someone sees Bob, or indeed anyone else, as a prophet, then why should anyone dissuade them from that perception? We all see the same world in different ways...

Well, hold on. You're trying to box it into a Bible/Jewish/Christianity thing
with the "Oh, it happened thousands of years ago" tag.
Although they're not called "prophets", what would you call, say, Yogananda,
Prahupada (the Hare Krishna leader), Meher Baba (Avatar of the Age),
Marcus Garvy, Bruce Springsteen (Oops!)? Sorry, but those are so-called modern-day "prophets". Funny how Hinduism always sidesteps the word "prophet".
As for Dylan, I will say this which still upsets a lot of secular people:
he does read the Bible, always has and probably always will.
I do think it's great that he won't take carrots from people like Jan Wenner.
