'73 UK/Europe -- WHY NO BAND INTROS?
Date: December 24, 2004 05:11

I'm trying to kick my head cold with Natural Ice beer (5.9% alcohol), Robitussin cough syrup, and pseudophedrine; so, I'm high as a flag on the Fourth of July.

But, why weren't there band intros in '73? Was the slippy slide into HTW after MR all the set needed to bring on its roaring conclusion.

I've been listening to several '73 Europe shows on my desktop speakers and I must say they sound pretty good. '72 was like a religious experience. '73 seems like a loose, good ol' drankin' naght out with da Stones.

"The wonder of Jimi Hendrix was that he could stand up at all he was so pumped full of drugs." Patsy, Patsy Stone

I would say '72 was the good ol' drinking night out and '73 was the religious experience. But i can only refer to the boots.

Cheers,

Mannheim, 03-09-1973. They did a band introduction During the Intro off HTW Jagger announces: Trevor lawrence / Steve Madaio / Billy Preston and the band, after he finishes the intro ends and the songs kicks in for real. The only other time they did a band intro during this tour was the both shows in Cologne on 04-09-1973. Maybe Jagger didn't like to introduce during Taylor's intro off HTW? Anyway I liked the idea! (You can hear it on Mannheim on Ice, OBR 458.05.96).

I don't think so...
They did at least partial intros during the sixties
I remember a Paris Olympia bootlegs where Mick introduces Charlie

According to Andreas Zimmermann/Olaf Reuthebuch "Words Of Wonder", in 1973, Mick didn't introduce the band in the first concert (vienna) but then on the following Mannheim, Cologne and London #1 but dropped that habit with London#2 for the rest fo the tour!

Plenty of intros on the 72 Tour......... There's one where MJ introduces the band by bodyweight like boxers for example.

I'll check it out and get back to you, but I think it was on a vinyl boot originally.

According to Andreas Zimmermann/Olaf Reuthebuch "Words Of Wonder": The only reference that would fit comes from Norfolk (5 July 1972). Mick introduces all with "On... " and only says "And a 140 pound Mick Taylor on guitar.". That's 63,5 kilogrammes by the way.
