OT The Beatles "Love" CD Revisited

The newly-remastered tracks feature in this sonic mishmash, and in revisiting it, I find it quite enjoyable. I suppose it could require some chemical enhancement, but one could easily play the "where did THAT come from?" game.

For Beatles purists, this recording may be anathema, but it is cleverly done, and doesn't tarnish the recordings' legacy. It is an experiment, and must be accepted as such. I can now appreciate it as a teaser for the reissue of the original records.

I thought it worked great. I didnt expect to like the originals being tampered with in that way, but I absolutely loved it.

Not sure I'd be so enthusiastic about it being done with other artists though (eg the Stones), but in this case it was superb.

The dual tribute to John & George in Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows is particularly affecting.

Just listening to it now.

Help! is a good example of what to expect from the upcoming remasters - sounds fantastic!

I play it quite regularly, listening to it for what it is, instead of trying to think too much about the originals.

It is absolutely brilliant.

The "Love" dvd sounds brilliant (and the surround mixes were very nice to hear)
Never heard the cd version though.
Great addition to the upcoming remasters.

In the next few years I think we'll get some of the albums in hi-rez (stereo and surround) on blu-ray.

I thought Love would be bollocks. I was pleasantly surprised. And taken aback. Bill Laswell did some similar tampering with some of Miles Davis's electric fusion stuff with Panthalassa, which sounded utterly brilliant. Love reminded me a little of that. If Love was a trailer for the remasters, then they'll be great.

Superb sound - nice job by the Martins. I like playing musical Jeopardy with it.

I am a Beatles purist by I think LOVE is great. The sound quality, the way differents segments of different songs fit so well together - as if they were meant to. It's brilliant.

I concur with all above postings. To those who say it's tampering, well, I say not so. It merely (and brilliantly) highlights various areas of an entire catalogue and presents old classics in a new light. It was never intended to be anything definitive. And in addition to some very clever re-workings, the sound quality is exquisite.

If done with equal finesse, I'd love to hear a Stones mash-up of this caliber.

Quality job. What is amazing is the quality of the recording of the original tracks to make this sounds SO good.

I disagree. Although it was interesting, I thought it was unnecessary.
Like Geoff Emerick says it's like colorizing a black and white film
or painting a differnt background on the Mona LIsa.
I think the only point was "Oh, look what technology can do."
But in the process, it sucked all the life out those songs.
I don't care that you can crossfade Mr. Kite with Love Me Do
and then stand back and say "Isn't it great?"
I prefer the Beatles in mono (up to the White Album) 'cause that's
the way they recorded it, mixed it, and intended it to be...
and sorry, it's sounds better that way.
It's almost like Magic Alex's dream is coming true.
"We'll have 16 speakers all around and everything will sound wonderful."

Think it's great. Particularly "I am the Walrus". TNK and WYWY mix is clever but bugs me a little cos TNK is such a superior song that I'd rather hear that when Ringo's wonderful drumming kicks in.

Would love a few more although of course that will not happen as GM has hung up his boots.

Love the "Blackbird" intro to "Yesterday" as well.

Amazing music no matter how it's presented really.

Probably.

I think the 'LOVE' soundtrack has the original songs remixed very sympathetically by George Martin and his son Giles, the quality does indeed reflect the stunning sound quality of the original Abbey Road recordings. If you find yourself in Las Vegas, I would recommend the Cirque du Soleil show -
