Ronnie, Lisa and Bernard to do sobriety gala in Boston
Posted by: Addicted ()

Ronnie's hooking up with 66,66 % of the Stones' back-up singers for a "Right Turn" gala in Boston on April 26th.
People on this board, who have repeatedly claimed he's back on the sauce, were obviously wrong. He's stayin' sober and he's supporthing other people who need to quit drinking.
Good job, Ronnie!
Lisa's comming to the gig directly from her Tina Turner European Tour-job.

Should there be a bar there at all?
I refuse to joke about peoples alcoholism. It's way too serious.

People repeatedly claimed he was back on the sauce BECAUSE HE WAS. Just because he's stopped again doesn't mean shit.

A drinking problem is no laughing matter. Last night when the bar closed and they kicked me out in the street, I cried all the way home.

Chad Smith will play too. Maybe this fact started the rumour about Flea touring with the Faces...?

Wood at sobriety gala
Rock 'n' roll sobriety keeps on growing, as might be expected after years of debauchery. Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood, who has cleaned up his act, will join the second annual "Supergroup" concert to benefit local sobriety organization Right Turn at the Berklee Performance Center on April 26. (Music fans may recall Chuck Berry headlined the show last year.) Wood will perform with Chad Smith (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Simon Kirke (of Bad Company), James Taylor's sister, Kate Taylor, Tim Pike, and Stones backup singers Lisa Fisher and Bernard Fowler, among others. Tickets are expected to go on sale in about a week. "People are starting to realize how important it is to keep Right Turn going in these tough economic times,"' said CEO Woody Giessmann.

So, supporting other people 'proves' he's quit alcohol?

Funny, but Ian McLagan told me personally just two weeks ago that while he didnt drink (and didnt want one) when the Faces had their get together in November, he's had a few relapses since.

Then again, what would HE know? eye rolling smiley

Mac's obviously at least as concerned for Ronnie as the rest of us and to be fair said that for the most part, he's been doing well re: staying off the booze. It's pretty clear he still has some demons, though - but hopefully things are going in the right direction for him.

Maybe Ron IS sober! With a young thang and no alchohol he could just be horny.
Whenever I stop drinking I stay horny all the time(or is that just an addictive personality trading one vice for another??)

I just knew that Ronnie's last stint in rehab would be the last one - seventh time is a charm! Way to go Ronnie!! One day at a time.

The Boston Globe is now reporting that Ronnie will not do this gig:

Wood out, Cooper in
Alas, Ron Wood will not be performing at the April 26 benefit for Right Turn. Seems the Rolling Stones guitarist (inset) suddenly has a "scheduling conflict" and won't be able to make the fund-raiser for the Arlington-based recovery center for artists and entertainers. (Wood, who has a history of alcohol abuse, was recently warned by bandmate Keith Richards to shape up or ship out.) Replacing Ronnie as the headliner will be Alice Cooper, who'll be backed by the likes of Chad Smith, Simon Kirke, Ace Frehley, Teddy "Zig Zag" Andreadis, Barry Goudreau, Ricky Byrd, and others.
