there's been recently a thread about Jimmy Page session contributions from around 1964... I find them pretty cool, that's nice style of playing pop rock. what are the best bands playing like that in the 60s? I mean, guitar-driven catchy tunes, maybe Yardbirds style...
Amused; I suggest ya check out the Nuggets-series LP/CD/Box Set released from 1972, mid-80s & onwards- Stuff from 1954 to 69 but mainly 65-66-stuff called garage.
There are also some truckloads of Swedish bands from that time; for example Namelosers, early Hep Stars, Lee Kings (more in next post)
And what about surf music or surf punk from early 60s?

Couple Swedish garage bands: Shanes - I Dont Want Your Love
Tages - I Should Be Glad
....And so.. my personal favorite: HEP STARSWhole Lotta Shakin'... Stompy groove here..... Ya'll see Benny from Abba here on keyboards.. And tambourine, to the left. NOTE: Embedded is disfuntioned; so ya have to doubleclick!
And so these Aussie mod rockers & gogo-guys: Easybeats
