"The Old Lamp-Lighter" Sammy Kaye 1947. God, I'm old.

At least the following 2 weeks were pretty hip:

"Open the Door, Richard" Count Basie

UK Charts didn't exist for another 3 years - US No.1 was (aaargh!) Perry Como, Some Enchanted Evening. If I'd been born a month earlier it could have been Ghost Riders in the Sky - bad timing, that. (August 1949)
