It took 2 days for me to get through to you guys. Don't know what to start with. I never really got into the whole stones thing until now. I've been listening to them for the last 2 weeks 24/7. Completely blown away by the sound.

I was trying to undertand what is it that makes the stones different

To me it's this: even the saddest RS song leaves something positive in you.

I wish I discovered them earlier. Believe it or not, the only record I had was bridges. i still love it, but it's funny how it didn't provoke me to look for more. I thought that bridges to babylon and afew "oldies" here and there, was all they had. How wrong I was. It's an entire new world i never knew existed.

Your post brings me to a somewhat related question. My 12 y/o nephew is a guitar player and wants me to introduce him to the RS's music. He doesn't want the "hits" so Hot Rocks is out. I already gave him LIB. I'm going to get him Beggars & Sticky Fingers. I'm kinda thinking he might not be ready for Exile yet. I know when I first got that album I was a teenager and it was a little too over my head. It took me till my early 20's to truly appreciate it. Think I should go for say Between the Button or Some Girls instead?

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Well, to tell you the truth when I was his age, I wasn't ready for anything except the crap that was on the radio at the time.

My parents had a huge collection of records, no stones though. I wasn't ready for that either.

around here we do what rockman says, specially wrt taking fluids and personal hygiene.

He is into early rock - loves The Beatles and The Yardbird - kinda is getting into Zeppelin - I'm guiding him as gently as I can, but what kid wants to listen to their old auntie right?

amazing. So you're a living artifact of the RS history museum. Your post reminded of...well you see i'm from eastern europe, and i know a person who was a stones fan back in the day when you could really get "plundered" by the KGB for listening to the stones. because they were banned as "antisocial", anti-communist, immoral, imperialist badasses or whatever the incrimination was. anyway,The guy has a closet full of rs LP's imported by sailors during the 70's. It must have cost him a fortune.

By the way I found a soviet article about the rolling stones, i know its complete bull, but I think I'll translate it and post it..
