I think in Wyman's book Rolling with the Stones, he says that the smaller stage....which was actually only like 20 ft. shorter than the big stage....was destroyed by high winds in Buffalo. Which was the next stop after Philly but I still don't think they used that stage in Philly (I didn't look at the video, I think I've already seen it).
>There was only one big, wide stage... i think the youtube just video just stayed on a close-up.
No there was a large outdoor stage and a smaller arena stage (which rotated). See LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER; first half on large stage, most of second half on small stage.
yeah there was a different stage for indoor shows but there was actually a smaller outdoor stage too according to Bill Wyman......but it was probably only used once. Wyman says it was destroyed by high winds in Buffalo, which was the 2nd stop and 3rd show of the tour......so my guess is that it was only used in Buffalo. Wyman also says that it was only a few feet (like 20 or something) shorter than the other stage.....not sure if he means square feet or the wings or what.....
There were different stages used for the 81/82 shows. The European stage featured a saxophone instead of the American flag. Also there were differences in the shape and colours. Anybody with good pics of the stage so we can spot the differences?
