I've just got a Squire styled like Keith's - humbucker in the neck position and single coil in the bridge. It's cheap, but gets a pretty decent sound.

I used a seymour duncan distortionhumbucker in one and the classic PAF gibsons in the other. The PAF (patent applied for) pups are by far the most 70's KR sounding so those are my favorites.

Finally I have the Texas Humbucker from Rio Grande pups. This is there version of the PAF. Also very nice!

Get some Bare Knuckle pickups. I've got a set of Pile Drivers in my Tele and they Rock in a major way. They also make a set called Brown Sugar based on Keef's sound.

i've been to lollar's shop on Vashon Island, Wa, he is really a genuis, hand wrapping these things himself. very wonderful and personal shop, waay in the country on this island...pays personal attention to everything, just one or two workers in the shop and they are magnificent as well. His work is stunning. i played quite a few instruments with his pickups, including two Teles. It was a smooth buttery sweet clean sound with a little sting that quickly turned ferocious if you gave the pre-amp a little push. After meeting him a few times I showed up at one of his mellow gigs on Vashon where he likes to play with a small rhythm section. it's really a wonder that the guy can get that much clarity and crunch and power out of almost any guitar, if the wood sings properly. there's an old totally thrown out 'junker' fender he rescued with body and neck totally intact and he made it sound like a dream, i would love to buy it, but can't budget it right now. he is very painstaking and committed and very talented.

What kind of sound are you looking for Roadster? If it is the classic Tele sound then a set of Duncan Antiquities (and brass saddles) will do very nicely. You might also want to swap the pots if you have a MIJ or MIM Tele. RS Guitar Works offers a nice set.

Yep, the best: '54 Antiquities!
