Fingers crossed for this particular reunion people ... the KINKS !!

[news.bbc.co.uk]

Long ago life was clean
Sex was bad and obscene
And the rich were so mean
Stately homes for the Lords
Croquet lawns, village greens
Victoria was my queen
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria

I was born, lucky me
In a land that I love
Though I am poor, I am free
When I grow I shall fight
For this land I shall die
Let her sun never set
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, toria

Land of hope and gloria
Land of my Victoria
Land of hope and gloria
Land of my Victoria
Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria

Canada to India
Australia to Cornwall
Singapore to Hong Kong
From the West to the East
From the rich to the poor
Victoria loved them all
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, 'toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!

Absolutely best news for ages. And Pete Quaife too. Saw 'em the first time at the Rainbow in about 79. Great show but I always wanted the original 60s line up. Maybe we'll get Village Green in its entirety. We can but dream. In the meantime...

I hope they get back together, but I don't see anything new in the article, just they same old stuff from Ray saying "I wish we would get back together but I don't know if Dave wants to."

True, there's not much "new" there in so far as it's Ray once again stating "I wish, I wish etc", but perhaps the probability of it actually happening has inched slightly further forward ... don't know ? Either way, fingers crossed, because this is one of THE great bands I've never seen in their original form and I've long adored their music, so here's with the positive vibes for it coming to fruition !!

The Kinks in their mid-late '60s heyday were as good as any of their contemporaries. I'd love to see a Kinks reunion happen, but Dave doesn't appear to be interested.

First Ever Kinks Box Set, Released December 1st on Universal
The Kinks return in December with ‘Picture Book’: the ultimate Kinks kollection. Compiled with the help of Ray Davies, ‘Picture Book’ is a six CD box set of rarities, live versions and classic originals celebrating one of one of Britain’s most successful and influential bands.
Featuring the songwriting genius of Ray Davies and the guitar virtuosity of brother Dave, hits like ‘You Really Got Me’, ‘Lola’, ‘Waterloo Sunset’, ‘All Day And All Of The Night’ and ‘Sunny Afternoon’ not only defined British cool in the sixties and seventies, but also cemented the band’s place in Rock ‘n’ Roll mythology. ‘Picture Book’ is the first ever Kinks box set, chronicling the band’s 40 year career over six chronologically-ordered CDs and one 60-page, full colour booklet. Each disc deals with a particular chapter in the band’s history, from their 1964 breakthrough onwards, while the booklet features a full retelling of the Kinks story penned by esteemed rock critic Peter Doggett.

The booklet also includes a personal introduction by Ray Davies, as well as a Kinks timeline and never before seen photos.
Beautifully packaged in a classic, lift-lid style box, ‘Picture Book’ features well over a hundred tracks - a third of which are previously unreleased or new to CD. These include: Rare Demos, Mono Versions and Alternate Mixes (inc. early demos recorded as The Ravens; mono single versions of ‘Waterloo Sunset’, ‘Lola’ & ‘Apeman’; and previously unreleased versions of ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion’ and ‘Dead End Street’)
Archived BBC Television & Session Material (inc. a televised 1964 introduction by Brian Matthew, and session versions of ‘This Strange Effect’ and ‘Love Me Til The Sun Shines’) Live Renditions (inc. live versions of ‘Slum Kids’, ‘Alcohol’ & ‘Low Budget’)
All these feature alongside the classic originals, as ‘Picture Book’ revisits such classic albums as ‘The Kinks’, ‘Face To Face’, ‘The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society’ and ‘Arthur’.

agree with you 50% andy.

great band - but no more Arena/Stadium/stupid ticket price, reunions.

I'm fortunate, in that i get to see, one quarter of the original Kinks, play on a regular basis, in a pub environment.
(Mick Avory,Kast Off Kinks) That'll do for me.

Where are the Kast Off Kinks playing these days Adrian? I know their guitarist/singer Dave Clark from years ago when he worked with Noel Redding.

This is great news, plus the Box set. Screw a Zeppelin reunion, BRING ON THE KINKS!

The box is a must-get.

Much like another Dave (Gilmour), the younger Davies brother has little interest in getting pushed around by a an irascible, dictatorial senior partner anymore, which bodes poorly for new Kink product. Hope I'm wrong.

Why can't these old bands just go away. Leave the music to the young ones. Dredging up the past w/these CD sets is OK, but Jesus Christ....

Jesus Christ WHAT ???? These "old bands" should be treasured, not so stupidly dismissed ... especially not ones as f***ing fantastic as the Kinks. Next thing you'll be suggesting is that those old farts the Rolling Stones hang it up ? Yeah right !!

I think any band new, old, reunited, reformed, reinvited or whatever should be allowed to play and if anyone wants to go see them and they earn a few bob good for them but I do kinda see where Heiloobaas is coming from. The Police (as an example) were roundly pilloried by many on this site for having the temerity to reform and tour and more recently the possibility of Led Zeppelin rolling out again garnered scorn (tho' that one does seem to be teetering) so we can't expect everyone to go gaga over a possible Kinks reunion. Or Faces for that matter.

spoke to one of the band, last night.

A full reunion is not at all likely to happen.

The feeling is a one-off reunion show, is very much a possibility,
but a full tour is considered a no-no.
Dave Davies' health and fitness, being the main consideration.
