And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

He fell down from a tree. Knocking his head in a bad way. He had some serious brain surgery. His family was around him at the time of the operation. It was a moment where you know you are put to sleep and you know there is a chance you will not see your family again. Keith said thank you to his "head man" from Auckland NZ on stage at the end of the tour in N. America late 2006, and he did even bring him on the tour. I am not a doctor so I don't know how a brain damage is defined, but he is still on medication, and this is probably not something that will go away, unfortunately. PS. The accident happened in Fiji April 2006. After that Keith did many many shows, so I am not sure if his problem is a limitation vs touring and being on stage.

well, we're all happy that he survived, but i think it was more than obvious that after that accident he wasn't really able to play anymore....sad but true!

Keith is the man, remember what RS.com wrote about him?

The Rolling Stones' lead guitarist Keith Richards claims to have snorted his father's ashes and has had enough blood transfusions over the years to feed a thousand vampires. At this point, we can't decide whether he's going to die tomorrow or live forever.

I thought he admitted he didn't fall out of a palm tree but actually tripped and hit his head on a rock or a log?

Yes, but it so obviously took a LOT out of him.(Not that similar wouldn't to anyone).

Look at the difference in Keith from the Biggest Bang videos and then the shows after the accident like Shine A Light. He is pale and much less energized.

Well whatever happened. We do know that "Hanging on in quiet desperation,is the English way"

Good 'ol C Ray said that Hurricane Gustav is the "mother of all storms," and on and on and on. Which, when I saw that, made me realise he doesn't know his hurricane history at all.

Now people are going to look at him THREE times and say, well, whatever they say. The obvious.

I still find it hard to believe he got re-elected. It's like W. Bush - it's astounding that he got put back in office after all the bullshit he pulled.

Well, that's what I was hammered with in Europe, about Bush, when over there 2 years ago. It seemingly puts all or any Americans in a strange light.

Well, he said he couldn't snort coke anymore after the accident, which explains it. I mean, what kind of poster would I be if I couldn't do coke anymore?

So do ya with spelling etc:
"Serious" is the correct spelling; then I reckon ya meant "problems",
in pluralis & "Keith" is, last time I checked, spelled with an initial "K-".
And the dot use to be placed right after the last word.

My feelings :

From what I have seen in many shows, he was more brilliant just after his accident (summer 2006, where he looked fresher than ever) then few months later (summer 2008).

My opinion is that it wasn't a fall from a tree (I think of a crisis or an attack of something) maybe something that went back at the beginning of 2008.

But nobody knows except Keith himself... (and few others).
and nobody knows the future. The man is strong and can be cured by the best doctors and hospitals..

Maybe there is nothing particular, except that Keith is not a youngster and should avoid long and difficult tours. Maybe few dates from times to times in small arenas or clubs can be the future tour...
