A completely new way to listen to our boys...
Posted by: keeffriffhard ()

I put all my Rolling Stones-songs (official releases, demos, outtakes, live recordings) in a chronical order (thanks to the computer).

I used N. Zentgraf's "The Complete Works Of The Rolling Stones 1962-2007".

For example, it is really nice to listen to all their songs they have recorded in 1966.

So much better then just listening to their albums etc.

What do you think?

I use my time well...

On the other hand....maybe my idea is completely 'out of time'?

I do the same. I'm nearly finished organizing my Kinks collection the same way. The only downside with the Stones is slotting in the Olham-produced dreck from METAMORPHOSIS. That really brings things to a standstill.

Rockman - Who are you kidding? You must have a phenomenal filing system in order to come up with some of what you post right on cue.

Hope you've recovered from your B-Day celebrating.

I have 2 time lines on my pc.
official released - and boots, both by the year.
then there's a pool for the unidentified objects.

the socks are easy - all black, with or without a hole.

Hmm -- here's another idea: organize a chronological playlist of how a particular song has evolved in the live setting over the years. A 1969-2007 "Midnight Rambler" list comes to mind, or even a (gulp) 1965-2007 "Satisfaction"?

Coincidence !!! I just was listening to ADTL (from Shepards Bush 99) and when I read the last open-g, Jagger was singing the line which was written.

Just to say it ! >grinning smiley<

Sorry for my english ; I'm a french little boy (but I like it)

The METAMORPHOSIS tracks are in the sequence recorded, not released but it still brings 1964-1966 Stones sessions to a screeching halt when those publishing demos come in. Trust me.

I think Zentgrafs site has a few errors:

Were Bye Bye Johnny and You better move on really recorded BEFORE I Wanna be your man?????

Suzie Q and Surprise Surprise was recorded in febuary 1964, not on 28-29 september 1964.

Congratulations was not recorded 12 may, but 24-26 June, togther with it's A-side: Time is on my side (organ version)

Don't lie to me, is clearly a Chess outtake from 10-11 June, but Zentgraf says it's recorded on 12 may...

Can anyone clearify this???????????????

Well in a similar way I have Let It Bleed re-arranged with what was recorded for it that we left off of it on it.

The same with Beggars.

Aftermath is basically a double album.

Sticky Fingers has 3 or 4 extra tunes on it.

Black And Blue has 3 extra tunes.

Some Girls. I forget how many.

Emotional Rescue. A lot.

And turned Majesties into an EP.

Oh I forgot Voodoo with the B-sides and Stripped - wow, it's so much better with the B-sides and Honest I Do.

I leave off Wild Horses, Angie and I'm Free.

As far as officially released tracks.

I listen to all my music, including the Stones, in chronological order. But I don't include singles, outtakes, or anything that isn't on an officially released album.
