Seems like I remember some discussion a little while ago (Rockman, maybe?) about SHM discs and the improved sonics. From what I gather, the material used for the play side of these CDs is a Japanese innovation and allows better laser-read (equals fewer errors). Anybody with experience want to opine?

indeed it is Rockman who's been saying the SHM disks (Rolled Gold +, Satanic Majesties, etc) sound brilliant.
i have the SHM Shine a Light, and it does sound brilliant, but i haven't heard the "plain" version to compare.
