I have been a regular (almost daily) visitor of this site since 1999 when I posted my Stones experience in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain). I do not deserve any special treatmet becouse of it but I mean that I have seen a lot of things in this site. So deleting my post related to bullfighting it is not understable. If OT posts should be deleted THEN DELETE ALL OT postings. There are a lot of political OT postings advocating for politicians who make wars where people are killed. And they are not deleted. Please: equitative policy should be kept.

Fair comment. If a post is deleted there should be an explanation. I don't really go for bullfighting (although I did recently visit the Roman arena at Arles) but I do respect your right to talk about it.

Senseless killing of animals should be banned on any website. Simple as that.

sure we do, just not everywhere we happen to feel like discussing it. on iorr we're BV's guests,
and BV isn't an elected official that you're supporting with your tax dollar.
he's our host here and he can tell his guests to take certain discussions outside if/when he wants.

Why start a discussion on a Rolling Stones fan site anyway? Doesn't make any sense. Start your own IOBF forum and all your 'democracy' problems are solved.

actually, we've talked about bullfighting before a bit. i know it came up when i said i didn't want to see the stones in a bull-fighting arena. maybe because it had some stones content it was allowed to stick around a bit. i don't remember too many people being "pro-bullfighting".

regardless of how long the thread lasted, thanks for posting, on behalf of the bulls.

It's BV's website. He can do what ever he wants. We don't vote for it we decide to participate.

Bullfighting has nothing remotely to do with the stones OR music.

You can revel in your own sordid delights as much as you want but don't involve others.

A topic like bull fighting is bound to be controversial and polarise opinion. I wouldn't be writing the words 'most people outside of Spain find it barbaric and incomprehinsible as a so called sport' if the thread hadn't been started.

It's not something that I would pay to see (or even accept a free ticket to see) but I think it's unreasonable to delete the thread especially as there is so much garbage that is allowed to stand untouched.

I mean it was only a few weeks ago that people were banging on about Ted Kennedy. What's that all about - certainly not music. Personally my sympathies have always been with the girls family. I wouldn't let my loved ones get in any vehicle that Ted was driving.

The subject is not the problem here. Freedom of speach is.

Bullfighting is something people of northern countries cannot understand.
Southern countries cannot understand some customs of northern ones.
But does it mean that each time something seems weird to you, unknown, not belonging to your world, you decide to censor the subject ? you will lead your board, your community, your city, your country and eventually the world to a 1984 (read Orwell).

Every forum and website is not a democracy. If you go to other forums there is probably less freedom as far as posting off topic posts than there is here. Some off topic posts are allowed but this is mainly a forum to discuss the band. Personally I enjoy the off topic posts even the silly ones but anything with a political tone usually turns into a "battle royal".

Whether for or against bullfighting, whether for or against free speech, someone has the right to control their web forum the way they see fit.

I live in Barcelona and I always found bullfighting a barbaric thing. I don't find any excuses to torture animals.
Anyway I think BV always had a good criterium when he deletes some post, So,I will agree with him if he deletes this one. Let's talk about the Stones and other more interesting OTs than stupid bullfighting discussions.

There's absolutely nothing that excuses this really ugly, though, traditional of killing bulls for "fun". Just so some jerk can strut his chest and say: Hah, I'm really a strong man. Well, I'll tell ya what, midgets! The bull does not have swords or spears. It'snot an equal match. It's just appallingly ugly and cruel.
