Incidentally, dose anyone else think that Coldplay is the modern equivilant to U2? 2 guitar notes repeated endlessly for each song. Average technical ability for each player. A singer that is full of himself. Songs that sound like U2 discards and they all sound the same.

I've always thought Coldplay sounded like a U2 tribute band.

Much like Oasis is to the Beatles.

Not a fan but very few guitar players are recognisable after about 3 seconds and he's one of them

Exactly...I see him as one of the few unique innovators that created a whole different guitar sound.

Now can he play Chuck Berry rock, or Buddy Guy blues, or trade chops with Jeff Beck? Probably not...but who cares, the fact that he came up with a whole new style to me is enough to say he's definitely a good guitar player.

Tom Morrelo from Audioslave and Rage Against the Machine I put in the same category. Not similar styles, but an innovator.

What key something is in and the cadence it is are not related since cadence has to do with rhythm, mainly pauses or stops.

So a deceptive cadence making something sound like the key of C? Makes zero sense.

More precise: Cadence in Music:a sequence of notes or chords comprising the close of a musical phrase. And that's the last chord I was refering to.It is deceptive!!winking smiley
