Check out 'Ship of Fools' and 'Way Down Now' by World Party (Karl Wallinger). Karl sometimes sounds like a younger Mick Jagger, and lays it on a bit thick in those two tracks. The latter even ends with a "whoo-whoo!" sequence, a la Sympathy. The Stones influence of World Party's music initially sold me on them back in 1985, and I have been a huge fan ever since. Karl W's music is also noticeably Beatle-ish, and there are also frequent nods to Prince, and the Who, and Sly, and others. Just bought a ticket to see WP in May in Boston. Cannot wait.
