The reason why the camera was pointed down is simple! I am the one who shot the clip. Keith came over to us to sign some autographs, I wanted one of my items signed too and I had to put the camera down so I could hold the item.
The other reason I put the camera down is that Charlie came down minutes before and I was filming right up until he got within a few feet of me. He signed for everyone except me. The camera was too invasive looking back.
Keith signed 2 items for the people next me and then the woman approached him in a what appeared to Keith's guys a threatning manner. She was hanging outside the hotel for quite a while sitting on a concrete planter while chain smoking and cursing out loud to no one in particular prior to the episode. Hotel security, etc knew she was there.
I think she ment well and was trying to hand him something that looked like a necklace to Keith. But, her approach and appearance ruined it. She was pushing through a few people, etc. When she said something like "I'm gonna throw it in there", I think she ment she was going to throw the necklace into the van since she could not get within reach of Keith.
Eventhough, I did not get Charlie or Keith, I ended up getting Mick to sign my ON Stage laminated pass a few minutes later when they took him out a side door. I was the only one around.
The autograph collectors that got Charlie and Keith ran to their cars to try to beat Mick to the airfield entrence where they knew the car would have to stop at the gate. BTW...Mick rolled down the window a couple inches and signed a couple items for them.
So, that is the story of the Keith attacked by fan video.
I'll never get the idea of "autographs". It's ink on paper. To me, it means nothing.
I have been working at a theatre where ,sometimes, famous people performed. Every night the when I lead those people to the backstage entrance after the show there were autograph hunters. Most of the times these people behaved really bad, shouting, pushing, etc...sometimes it was okay and people where well behaved and there were some nice encounters.
Interestingly, most of the autograph hunters hadn't even watched the performance that night, nor did they care about the artists work at all. Trainspotters.
You can indeed feel sorry for famous people sometimes. Getting shouted at and photographed all the time...horrible.
Nothing personal to all of you who like the boys to sign their records etc...it's just beyond me...;-)
