Authentic?

"Jimi Hendrix and Brian Jones - My Little One, Take's 1 & 2"
"With Mitch Mitchell & Dave Mason"

7:25. Weird, this. For real? Will however at least make me sleepless tonite..

Brian also played piano on Watchtower but was poor so was relegated to percussion only.

According to Eddie Kramer via his book 'Setting the Record Straight' it's Dave Mason on sitar, he doesn't mention Brian Jones taking part in the session.

There is also a version, with the same music featuring a Noel Redding vocal entitled 'There Ain't Nothing Wrong With That'.

This suggests to me that this is actually a Noel Redding song.

In the Electric Ladyland DVD Kramer is playing a master of Watchtower, fades every thing except piano and says it's Brian Jones.

it's an amazing track none the less, i love that chord progression and the ominous sitar in the background...

however i think that very same rhythm guitar pattern is used in another Hendrix song...but i can't remember now which one it is...

Didn't Brian play the sitar on one of those takes?

Brian attempted to play piano on the first take of ALTW which only lasts for a few bars.

There is no evidence that I am aware of to support the rumour that Brian plays sitar on those takes of 'Little One'. Once again, according to Eddie Kramer it's Dave Mason who plays the sitar on those recordings.

I was always under the impression that Mason played the sitar and Brian percussion. Didn't Eddie Kramer confirm that in a Hendrix DVD?

Never seen that on any Hendrix DVD I've owned, but Eddie does talk briefly about Brian's short stint as a piano player for hendrix in the classic albums - electric ladyland DVD. He plays the tape and it's like a grade 2 piano player or something and you hear Hendrix bring it to an end!

Mitch Mitchell then vaguely mentions that Brian may have played percussion. In his book, he says that no serious recording was ever attempted with Brian Jones.

I mis remembered a bit, but here's the part that includes Brian on piano...
