The speakers of my VT-40 died two days ago. Can anyone here recommend me good speakers that aren't that pricey ; ) Maybe Mathíjs.... !?

Thank you in Advance.

Speakers don't just "die". I think you'd better sort out why they died... before you kill any more ;^)

Did I set the record for links in one post? This should pretty well sum it up,though.

These are another option.(I just found out about them today.)They are not available yet but, will be soon. They should be solid. [www.outlawaudio.com] The Outlaw bookshelf speakers have gotten great reviews as well but, they are on the high price side for speakers that size. The price on their "LCR" loudspeakers is reasonable, though.

Also,JBL's are not bad.Probably not the best out there but, pretty good. [www.jbl.com]

I guess you did set a record there, but also in going way past the topic, lol.
the Ampeg VT-40 is guitar amp from the 70ies.

@ Gimme Shelter, are you sure you just want 4x12 speakers?
I thought they were 4x10".

and like Spud said: Speakers don't just "die".
c'mon, there must be a story to that - please tell us about it.

As far as I know the VT-40 has 10" ceramic speakers. I also don't think it's the speakers as they never die completely, they always keep making some sound. If you want to replacement I would go for Weber Alnico speakers -you won't believe your ears. If you want to keep true to the old sound, ceramic Weber or Eminence do the trick. I personally do not like 10" Celestion or Jensen speakers. Last, if you want to tame the volume of you're amp a bit, ask Weber for low rating speakers, say 97 dB instead of the usual 100. The three dB difference will make your amp sound half as loud, wich for Ampeg means it will still be too loud!

I see.I thought that we were talking about speakers for inside of a house - for a home theater system.

Wow wow...you have at least 3 different thangs going on - and need to tell us some details.
What does your Pearl bassman clone expect as a ohm load?
is it switchable?
same for the ampeg speakers!
pay attention to the wireing - serial - parralell - both?!

I can't ask all the questons in th pub i'm typing this in - but mor details will help.

pearl bassmann is driven on 4 ohm. it is not switchable. ampeg speakers are switchable to 4, 8 and 16 ohm. serial wireing !
