1987: Molly O'Day/LaVerne Williamson (64) C&W, gospel singer; pioneering vocalist whose soulful, gut-wrenching performances helped redefine the role of the female country solo artist, whose C&W career was relatively brief, but her lasting influence has proven massive. (cancer)
1993: Doug Hopkins (32) co-founder and lead guitarist of The Gin Blossoms (self-inflicted bullet wounds)
