Chuck Berry recorded an album of new tracks in 2001/2002 I think. It was mentioned in Rolling Stone Magazine when they made a big story/interview about Chuck. But it wasn´t released. It´s the same with fats Domino´s last record. He recorded one in 2002 I think but it is also not released.
Fat's last studio album was released in 2006 but was only available through Tipitina's to help raise funds for New Orleans musicians etc after Hurricane Katrina.......Damn Good album too...
I can't imagine the quality of any output from Chuck at this stage in his career to be impressive. I'd imagine it to be repetitive and material that was most definitely visited several times in the past. I'd expect several songs to start out with a typical "Johnny B. Goode"/"Little Queenie" kind of guitar intro and attempt to match those songs' originality. The brilliance of those songs was that he was singing about a lot of things young people could relate to: going to school, driving a new car or dancing at a club. Not sure if any of those things are still "sing-able" today.

Maybe he could sing about things relating to old people instead....retirement, new teeth, incontinence and other such cheery subjects..;-)
Another good thing about this concept - the old folks probably don't download as much from the internet as the young'uns so he'll sell more records - that should please old Chuck no end ;-)
dug up chuck's last studio lp 'Rock It' the other day on a lark - it was much better than I remembered it being - but it's more than a quarter-century old now..and I doubt he could produce anything nearly as good now....

Haha...yes perhaps that WOULD be a good album :-) I'd buy it.

Yes, I have this on CD and listened to it a couple months ago. The songs are subpar and the overall quality of the album was a bit weak, I thought. The band backing him is too neat and safe--doesn't have any bite to the sound. I'm not sure how many ways you can make a good song using the same ingredients again and again and again. With Chuck, you can't help but notice that many songs do taste very alike.

true that - but I remember the album being a veritable train-wreck. it is not.
