O dear, O deer...

So last night I was watching the BBC's AutumnWatch - lots of live or semi-live footage of British wildlife going about its autumn-time business. Interesting viewing.

They came to the piece about the behaviour of Scottish red deer stags during the rutting season. The stag in question had established a nice big territory and attracted a lot of females, but they weren't quite in the mood for mating yet, so all his efforts came to nothing - and guess what they used as backing music?

I can't get no....

I do hope this comes up as a YouTube clip before long.

Wonder if anybody knew Scotland had Samis (before: "Lapps") herding
huge reindeer herds since the 1920s.

Which reminds me dear Green Lady, I was greatly amused by one of the T-shirts that the great Sir Ron of Kingston occasionally wore onstage on the recent tour; it was the yellow one with a picture of a stag's head on it and the words DEER ME emblazoned across it. Personally, I thought that was hilarious, given that this is the man whose garden backs onto the perimeter wall of Richmond DEER park .................. !!

Get it ?? DEER park !!

Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was f f f f f f firkin' funny !!

Isn't Richmond Park fun during rutting season ? I don't think there's too much actual "brain" in between the ole antlers there you know. They're a grumpy shower of antlered shits, are those Richmond Park stags. They spend all day shagging does, fighting with other stags, and then (because they're obviously not very bright and additionally are completely exhausted and in foul humour), they see fit to have a go at anything else they see that "might just be" another o so cunningly disguised stag ... such as a geriatric old couple out for a walk, a horse and rider, a dog, a mum pushing junior along in a buggy, an ice cream vendor, a car, a bicycle, a fox, a squirrel ... well you get the idea !!

Stupid bloody creatures ! Play 'em "Sittin' On a Fence" ... that might calm 'em down a little bit !!

the does during the birthing season, are alot more vicous /dangerous
in my experience.
Richmond/Bushy Park's are pretty hairy places to be, at this time.

BTW Pauly-

that's you shaking Kim's hand at the T-birds show, back in the summer,
isn't it???
